For my critical analysis, I chose William Blake's "The Little Black Boy." I am using Marxist Criticism theory to elaborate on the poem. The question that I am going to ask is: Whom does it benefit if the work or effort is accepted/successful/believed, etc? My hypothesis for this question is I believe that this work will and has benefited the people the will and has read it. It is a very motivational and inspirational work. Storyify Editor:

Jasmine, I only see one source here and it is dealing with what others have to say about the poem. You'll need to do some research on who the readers are that you are referring to in your hypothesis. First, you will need to be more specific about which readers you're referring to. You argue that anyone who reads it will benefit, but this poem has been around for 300 years so you'll need to narrow it down. In Marxist theory, generally when they ask this question they are referring to the readers at the time the text was first published. Also, the source that you have here doesn't appear to be very reliable. Make sure to apply the reliability text in the McGraw-Hill handbook before using this source in your essay.

ReplyDeleteYolandar, Just realized my mistake in calling you Jasmine. The name of your blog threw me off since we have a Jasmine in class. Sorry about that!
